We will promote domestic and foreign research exchanges through academic conferences. We will provide firm support for basic and clinical research in the field of cardiovascular medicine by forming a group of excellent researchers at home and abroad.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide.
Woosim Corporation was established in 2012 to meet the pressing need for undertaking research on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, raising public awareness of cardiovascular disease, and supporting patients with cardiovascular disease.
The corporation aims to publicize its activities and events by hosting approximately 7 international and domestic symposiums every year. In addition, it sponsors young doctors from overseas for training at the Heart Center of Chonnam National University Hospital, as well as providing the latest medical expertise for the medical personnel engaged in cardiovascular medicine. It is also contributing to the treatment of patients with intractable cardiovascsular disease using new treatment technology.
As of 2021, thanks to the support of its members, we have made the largest number of presentations at the Korean Society of Cardiology for the 19th year in a row. We have treated the most patients with myocardial infarction and performed the most cardiovascular interventions nationwide. We have conducted more than 3,500 pig experiments at our animal catheterization laboratory, the most in the world. Novel coronary stents developed by Chonnam National University Hospital have obtained US patents and their clinical research is under way with approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine has published over 1,600 papers and 80 books, and obtained 70 patents so far, showing the highest research performance in Korea. In addition, we have been successful in securing the land and design budget for the National Cardiovascular Center, which has been promoted since 2005 in an effort to enhance basic and clinical research on cardiovascular diseases and to vitalize medical industry.
We are making every endeavor to support patients with cardiovascular disease and to revitalize the related medical industries through the establishment of the National Cardiovascular Center and international academic partneships, and we are promoting basic and clinical research in the field of cardiovascular medicine by forming a group of excellent researchers at home and abroad.
